What it is

Each week a new boss shows up with HP equal to your weekly step goal. Every step you take is one point of damage. Open the app and the steps since your last visit land as an animated attack. Beat the boss by Sunday midnight for loot; miss and it escapes.

What I built

  • One codebase, two stores: HealthKit on iOS and Health Connect on Android through the same code path, with a mock step provider for the browser and simulator.
  • Native extras: an Apple Watch app, a Live Activity during walks, background GPS for tracked walks, and native Sign in with Apple.
  • Social: friends, guilds, and optional raids on a Supabase backend. The core game needs no account.
  • Content: a rotating cast of pixel-art bosses, hero levels, gear, and a wardrobe. Season 2 doubles the boss roster.

Getting through review

Before submitting I ran audits from the reviewer's point of view: zero steps, units and locale, offline, and every error the backend can return. One finding would have been a rejection: the Health permission prompt fired with no explanation. Onboarding now explains it first, and a test keeps it that way. The suite runs across nine time zones because weeks roll over at local midnight.
